Understanding the Charges
In Colorado, all forms of robbery charges are considered felonies. You might be charged with one of three types:
Robbery
Robbery, in its most basic form, is committed when you knowingly take anything of value from another person by the use of force, threats, or intimidation.
Aggravated Robbery
The crime becomes aggravated when you are armed with a deadly weapon, state you are armed with a weapon, or are in possession of any article that one would reasonably believe is a deadly weapon. This also entails knowingly wounding or striking anyone who resists the robbery and putting them in reasonable fear of injury or death.
Aggravated Robbery of Controlled Substances
Colorado also makes it a separate robbery charge when the crime consists of force or threats to steal a controlled substance from a pharmacy or other location where they are legally kept.

This defense applies when the defendant in that particular situation would have reasonably believed that immediate physical danger appeared to be present if they did not go through with the action.
